Cong. accuses KTR of ignoring ITIR project

Telangana PCC General Secretary Sravan Dasoju has accused the TRS Government of deliberately neglecting the Information Technology Investment Region (ITIR) project, approved by previous UPA Government and said the delay had cost lakhs of job opportunities to the State youth.
Speaking to reporters here, Mr. Sravan demanded that IT Minister K.T. Rama Rao take the responsibility for the delay because of ‘selfish and dubious’ priorities.
A portion of the money spent on Mission Bhagiratha could have made ITIR project live today.
Mr. Sravan asked Mr. Rama Rao as to why he was unable to mobilise funds for the ITIR? Out of the total outlay of ₹ 13,000 crore the Central Government’s share is only ₹ 3,000 crore.
The TRS should have taken it up in Parliament if the Centre was unwilling to support, he said.
He alleged that the Detailed Project Report (DPR) was being revised just to have KCR brand.
He said that the Central Government was delaying the project for want of cabinet approval and the tone and tenor of the letter written by Mr. Rama Rao to the Centre is only to indulge in mere blame game.
Mr. Sravan demanded that the Government publish a White Paper on the ITIR and said that the Congress would agitate to pressurise the TRS Government to implement the project that had the potential to make Telangana another Korea or Silicon Valley.
He said that the previous UPA Government, after a lot of research and investigation, prepared the DPR and the Congress government had already identified 50,000 acres of land in five zones in and around Hyderabad for it.
The ITIR project was designed to attract global investments of more than ₹2.20 lakh crore with scope for 15.4 lakhs direct jobs and around 54 lakhs indirect jobs, he said.
